Harrison Rumsey

H 9Harrison’s influences include rock and pop bands like Foreigner, Journey, Yes and Styx, however he was especially drawn to the heavier bands such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dokken, Leatherwolf, Grim Reaper, Ozzy, Dio, then Alice in Chains, Pantera, Biohazard, Machine Head etc. He was always influenced by the best of the local scene musicians as well, perhaps rounding out his influences with a unique twist.

Harrison worked on his guitar chops with a year of schooling at Oswego State and came back to try writing his own songs in a series of bands – Razor’s Edge, Maelstrom and Animater in the early 1990’s. To this point, he had sung some lead vocals, but mostly backing vocals. Then he formed his own group as not only a guitarist and mandolinist, but a lead singer in the very eclectic late 1990’s-2003 band, Patchwork Down with Jerrod Prevost. This band traveled well outside of the Central NY area and played with bands such as Molly Hatchet and Chris Barron (Spin Doctors) as well as CNY favorites, Boiler, Yolk, Bent Peg, John Brown’s Body, Sim Redmond Band, just to name a few. After a seven year hiatus from music, Harrison and Jerrod decided to try their perpetual chemistry in a genre they always shared; heavy and aggressive! With the addition of a loud and tight rhythm section smashed down by Pete Schlough and Eric Rodriguez, Ire Clad was born!

“Ire Clad, “Ire Clad” — Harrison Rumsey and company gave the local metal scene a kick in the butt with their self-titled debut, which featured massive guitar riffs, roaring vocals and lots of energy.” Jim Catalano - Ithaca Journal
